féi iká shumarí

féi iká shumarí, a two spirit/trans woman, was born in 1993 in Chihuahua, Mexico. shumarí is a descendent of the Pi’ma, Rarámuri, and Cora peoples. She is a (un)documented writer, performance artist, and graphic designer.  

shumarí is the author of (Un)Docu Mente (Noemi Press, 2027); Chabóchi Doll (Abode Press, 2026); and Hood Criatura (Sundress Publications, 2020). Her writing has been anthologized in Here to Stay: Poetry and Prose from the Undocumented Diaspora (HarperCollins, 2024), edited by Marcelo Hernandez Castillo, Janine Joseph, and Esther Lin, and Somewhere We Are Human: Authentic Voices on Migration, Survival, and New Beginnings (HarperCollins, 2023), edited by Reyna Grande and Sonia Guiñansaca.

shumarí is a 2023 Lambda Literary Fellow and a 2022 Tin House Scholar.
