Isabella Augusta, Lady Gregory
Lady Gregory, born Isabella Augusta Persse on March 15, 1852, in Roxborough, County Galway, Ireland, was an Irish writer and translator.
A prominent figure in the Irish Literary Revival, Lady Gregory, alongside W. B. Yeats and Edward Martyn, cofounded the Irish Literary Theatre and the Abbey Theatre. The author of more than three dozen plays, she was also a prolific translator, particularly of Irish poetry and mythology.
Lady Gregory died on May 22, 1931, in Galway, Ireland.
