Poet Laureate of Milwaukee, 2017–2019

Poet and visual artist Roberto Harrison is the author of numerous poetry collections, including Isthmus to Abya Yala (City Lights Spotlight Series #23) (City Lights Publishers, 2024); Tropical Lung: exi(s)t(s) (Omnidawn, 2021); Yaviza (Atelos, 2017); Bridge of the World (Litmus Press, 2017); Culebra (Green Lantern Press, 2016); and bicycle (Noemi Press, 2015). 

Harrison is the coeditor, with Michael Boughn, Nathaniel Mackey, Ruben Medina, Philip Metres, Nita Noveno, Julie Patton, Margaret Randall, Michael Rothenberg, Chris Stroffolino, and Anne Waldman, of the poetry anthology Resist Much / Obey Little: Inaugural Poems to the Resistance (Spuyten Duyvil Publishing, 2017). 

Harrison coedited the poetry journal Crayon, with fellow poet Andrew Levy, from 1997 to 2008. Harrison is also the editor of Bronze Skull Press which has published more than twenty chapbooks. He served as the 2017–19 Milwaukee Poet Laureate, and lives in Milwaukee, with his wife, the poet Brenda Cárdenas
